about
"On the Road to Town" spans several decades. I wrote, "Fat fits him at 42," when I was in my twenties. And "Lucky for all the bards..." last year, when I started performing. I hope the song resonates with other music artists, especially open-mic performers. They inspired me to finish the song.
lyrics
On the road to town
Dreams always waste his time
Like walking into the boulevard
Takes a glance back, walks in, walks out
With a a scar and a yard
On the road to town
The scar’s all gone now
But he looks a little more round
Fat fits him at forty-two
I see a little of him in you
I’m all into you
I’m all into you
It seems the sounds and the sins in me
Delivered me here
I’m so thrilled to be here
On the road to town
My mind wonders up on this place
Then it’s back to the ground
I can’t decide on the scenery
As long as I’m near to me
You and me, him and me, me and me
We are the band in this dreamland
Only one-man bands allowed in the land
Lucky for me they’re inside of me
Lucky for all the bards in all the boulevards
